"Long Drive"

Just because we do not see spiritual beings does not mean they are not here with us.

It was in the summer of 1969. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with my mother and grandmother. Practically all our relatives lived in Ohio, so my grandma and I decided to drive up and visit. The first day was long and hot. We stopped in the Smoky Mountains, thus ending our first day of travel. The next morning we were on the road by 4:30 AM. We left early in the morning because I always liked to challenge myself and set a goal of arriving at my aunt’s house in Ohio between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.

We quickly became lost on the second day. One wrong turn led to another. We missed our turns because we were behind trucks and could not see the road signs ahead. When I thought it was smooth sailing, I looked at the map and realized we were right outside of Cleveland, instead of Akron. At this time, I have been driving 18 hours. I was so tired and too young to acknowledge that my body needed rest.

Turning around on the main road, I decided that I would stop at a gas station and ask for directions once we were closer to Akron. If one has ever driven on country roads in the daytime one would swear every road looks familiar, even more so at night time. We were close now to my aunts and upon seeing what I thought a familiar road we turned on it and it went on and on and on. Now it is 11:00 PM at night, no moon out, no lights, we were in deep country, and the road kept going on and on.

It was at this point something told me to stop and turn around. The road was barely wide enough for two cars to pass one another, but I was driving my 1967 VW beetle, so I was not worried. I pulled to the right, stopped, pulled across the road, setting up for a turn around. I slammed it into reverse, shot backwards much too fast, my back wheels went off the road, grandma yelled MA and grabbed my right leg, I pulled up on my emergency brake and caught my breath. Slowly I climbed out of the car and walked around to the back only to see my car teeter over a 10 to 15 foot drop!

Standing there I remember saying "Thank you God" and all at the same time thoughts of how was I going to get my car up, it was so black out, we never passed a car in hours -- all this in less than a second -- when headlights shined over a hill in front of us, approaching us was a pickup truck that pulled up beside us. At this time I would like to mention that, for a hundreds of a second, fear flowed through me when the two men jumped out and asked us if they could help. I barely had time to answer when my car was pushed up, they jumped back into the truck and disappeared, and I mean disappeared. Everything happened so fast, less than 15 seconds. I remember yelling, "Thank you so much" as they sped away.

Driving to my aunt’s house, I tried to remember what the two men looked like but I couldn't even remember their faces. I know it was black out, and their headlights were very bright, but I couldn't remember anything about them.

What I do remember was a voice saying "Do you need help"?

Then they were out, picked up the car, back in the truck and gone.......

Several years ago someone asked me if I ever had an encounter with an angel and I said "no".....driving home, her question kept nagging me, then it was like a light that went on in my head, my heart started beating very fast, I knew then those two men that came out of nowhere were sent by God to help us.
